St. Patrick’s Day
1. Saint Patrick was a 5th-century
Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the
"Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of Ireland.
2. The day commemorates Saint Patrick
and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrating the heritage
and culture of the Irish in general.
3. St. Patrick’s day is designated
when it is because this is the day that Saint Patrick died.
4. You must wear the color green on
Saint Patrick’s day because St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a
three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
